- Killam Predoctoral Scholarships: Offers up to $42,000 per year for Level 1 Master’s students (maximum of two years) and Level 2 Doctoral students (maximum of three years). An additional $2,500 is available for international tuition fees, along with a relocation allowance.
- Vitamin Scholarship: Awards $19,000 for Master’s students and $21,000 for Doctoral students for a full academic year (12 months). Typically, one to two students receive this award annually.
- Abdul Majid Bader Graduate Scholarship: Valued at $40,000 for a full-time academic year (12 months), with the possibility of renewal for up to 24 months. Note that this scholarship does not cover fees, and recipients are responsible for covering their expenses from the awarded amount.

- Follow guidance from the Research Proposal Instructions for the Vanier or Tri-Agency Doctoral competitions to ensure your research proposal meets the required standards.
Application Process
Step 1: Application Creation
Create or modify your scholarship application by selecting from the list under “My Applications” on your homepage. Remember, applicants are limited to submitting one Harmonized Scholarship application per competition.
Step 2: Master’s CGS-M Opt-In (if applicable)
Master’s applicants who have applied to the Tri-Agency CGS-M competition can opt-in to use their CGS-M application for the Harmonized Scholarship Process. To do so, select “Master’s Level – CGS-M Opt-In” as the submission category. The Faculty of Graduate Studies will link your CGS-M application to your opt-in form, including reference letters and transcripts submitted for the Tri-Agency CGS-M competition. The opt-in deadline is December 1, aligned with the CGS-M application deadline.
Step 3: Transcript Upload
Ensure that you upload your official transcripts directly to the scholarship portal, following the application instructions. Current Dalhousie students may use unofficial grade reports in place of official transcripts.
Step 4: Reference Letters
All reference letters must be submitted within the portal by January 16, 2024 (or February 15 for non-thesis applicants). Incomplete applications or late reference letters will not be reviewed. It’s a good idea to remind your referees of the deadline in advance to avoid any last-minute issues. Once the references are received, a “received” notification will appear next to each referee’s name in the portal.
